That is a question that we are sure we will be asking ourselves many times during the trip!!!
We have had all kinds of reactions when we tell people that we're travelling across South America on a bicycle: disbelief, horror, wonder, awe, fear, loathing, projectile vomit... but a common response is that most are envious of everything (but not the biking), and often a wish to be doing this very thing themselves. But everyone always has other stuff going on, things like job, kids, mortgage payments etc. Everyone seems to have a friend of a friend or distant relation who has done something similar, or have at least seen the Top Gear episode in Bolivia. This is usually the beginning of a horror story but we're sure some people have a good time too.
Well you know what? There's NEVER a good time to just take a few months off and go on a huge trip. So we think now is as good as ever.
